Teamwork

This past week God reminded me how cool it is to work with a top notch team. I can remember when I first came to Fellowship over 6 years ago; it was me and a part-time church secretary! Of course our church was much smaller then…things have changed so much. The 40 or so people that were here back then used to look at me like I was crazy when I would tell them about having a church that would be directed by full-time staff…people who had dedicated themselves 24/7 to be a part of God’s dream to reach the Delaware Valley for Christ. I envisioned a high caliber group of people that would spend their week getting things ready for the weekend – a team whose passion was to equip our members to be ministers. Now we have that team!

I am blown away by the incredible group with whom I get to serve! I have heard it said that if you want to succeed, make sure you hire people that are better than you. God is showing that to be true at Fellowship Church. He has assembled a staff that is on par with any in the nation.

Moving into the school was a strategic decision that has allowed us to invest in our staffing rather than a huge mortgage payment. On Tuesday, the staff had a chance to review our weekend. We do this every week. It’s a time to see what went well and what needs to improve. When we got to the message, our team began to gush about the job that Ryan did speaking. They were sharing about how God had used his story to touch them and others around them. I just kind of sat back and watched and took it all in. The marketplace today is such a “dog-eat-dog” world and here my team was, giving out all kind of props to our “new guy.” No insecurities here…just a genuine dream of fulfilling the mission of leading people into a growing relationship with Jesus. I am so proud of this team that God has assembled… For Ben, Gus, Kristi, Jeff, Nancy, John, Shari, and Ryan…I wish you could see them the way I get to. They work so hard. Their dedication is unquestioned. They have made many sacrifices to serve here. Our staff meeting was just a microcosm of what makes them tick. It’s not who is up front or who gets the credit – all that goes to God anyway. It’s about you…Fellowship Church.

They love you and I hope that you will love them back. Take the time this week to make a phone call, send a note, or better yet…give them a Starbucks gift card and let them know you appreciate them. Make sure you take a moment and pray for them…the enemy has a big target on their back…and thank God for bringing such an incredible group here.

I have to agree with you about our staff. They are awesome. But, I believe you set the tone for our church and the staff. I love that you can sit back and allow the guys and girls to soar and do what they've been led to do without being threatened by their success. That was one of the first things I observed about you. I viewed it as humility with a quiet confidence!

Thank you for the love you demonstrate to our family as well as our church family! We love you, too!

Ditto from the Donaldson's! We're relatively "newcomers", having only been part of the Fellowship family for 3 years....but it is truly great to see the staff grow not only in numbers, but in capabilities, confidence and purpose. From the warm welcome we received from Ben on our very first visit, to the multiple greetings we got from staff and volunteers last Sunday, it is impossible to not be enveloped in the very personal embrace of God's love. Our thanks to all...!!
