Elk Creek Church

I met Mike Silliman for lunch last week. He is the lead pastor Elk Creek Church in Avondale. They launched their church on the 23rd of September. What a great guy! His church is fortunate to have him and our region is better because of him. I loved his heart for the unchurched and dechurched. It is hard to steer a church towards reaching those who are far from God. The pull, I believe, is always towards focusing inward to the needs of those already convinced. Mike is already taking a stand in this area and I am so pumped for what God is going to do through him and Elk Creek Church. I also enjoy reading Mike's blog...you should check it out.

Take a minute today (right now!) and pray for Mike. Pray for his wife and 4 kids…and pray for Elk Creek Church. We so desperately need churches that are strategically reaching out to those who need to experience the love of Jesus Christ.

You can always tell right off the bat when you see someone's blog, who their God is, what they worship, and what they're all about. At least that's the "appearance" you present.

Thanks Joe...I love my God and I love the Eagles. One never fails and unfortuately the other does all too often...such is the life of a Christ Follower and a Philly fan. Thanks for reading my blog!

Naomi - You are my hero! Only another pastor could know the difference that a pastor's wife makes. Michelle and I talked last night about having you guys over soon. We look forward to spending some of our "down time" with you and Mike. One last thought...I want to encourage you to be who God made you to be and not what you think a "pastor's wife" is supposed to be. Your legacy and ministry will be in your authenticity...using the unique gifts God has given you. I love that Michelle has been courageous enough to be herself and Fellowship is a better place because of it. Unfortunately some will try to get you to be something else or even need you to be something else...don't sweat it.
This is the longest comment of my short blogging career...Thanks for reading and checking in! Avondale doesn't stand a chance!

Don't worry John.

Joe Dentman is just too busy worshiping his own God.

Great words John.
