Wow! What a day! I started meetings today at 8:30 and went straight through until about 10:15 tonight at our board meeting. All good, positive meetings…Tuesday’s are pretty much meeting days for me anyway.
I start every Tuesday (Monday is my “Sabbath”) by meeting with my Assistant, Nancy. She helps organize and prioritize my week. Probably no other person at Fellowship does more with such little recognition for her effort or impact than Nancy. She helps me stay on track and protects me from interruptions. She has one of the most misunderstood and underappreciated jobs at the church. She helps extend my ministry in a huge way. Thanks Nancy…
Gus (Live Development Pastor) and I plan a working lunch every Tuesday (and he almost always buys). Gus is my sounding board and one of my closest friends. The dude loves Fellowship and has sacrificed and given like few have. Oh yea...happy anniversary to Gus and his bride Laurie. We love you guys...
One of our big challenges for us at this stage of our church is to improve and develop our systems to support our vision and mission. My brother Buddy and I are agonizing over this for our churches right now. We are convinced it is a barrier to future growth and being all God has called us to be. I wish you could listen in on some of our phone calls…church diagnostics…strategy…teaching series…developing and challenging staff…leadership…accountability…encouragement…whining (I do most of this)…dreaming. Buddy keeps me going and stretches me to grow like no other person I know. He is my hero…
We had a very effective and inspiring deacon’s meeting tonight. Our board rocks. They blessed Michelle and I tonight with a card and gift cards for our 7 years at Fellowship (out of their own pockets)…this is on top of making our dream of our own home a reality several months back! Thanks guys. Well, it’s 11:20 and I am starting to see double…I’ll continue the catalyst stuff from Craig tomorrow.
