I read a post from Bil Cornelius today. Bil is a good friend of my brother Buddy. He pastors a “rockin’ church”, Bay Area Fellowship that is getting it done in Corpus Christi, Texas. It hit me deep because of my love for our military. You might not be aware but at a younger age I thought God was calling me to be an Army Chaplain. I spent some time in the Reserves and the Guard and went to Officer Candidate School in the MO Army National Guard…I want to say thanks to Pat Fensom and Steve Glass – two friends of mine who were in harm’s way and ate some serious dust in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Here is Bil’s post for you to read…
As I was reading comments on my blog today, I noticed a young lady named Shakina Yost commented on reflecting more. She mentioned she is doing a lot of reflecting as her husband has just left for Iraq. Anyone who goes to Bay Area probably already knows my deep feelings for our men and women who are literally on the front lines for us. I just want to say that this feeling has never been tied to what news stations say about the war, but about the fact that men and women are in a war for us. I have to say that it angers me greatly to see the way so many media outlets have made our military personnel appear, when I know so many incredible people serving us.
I just have to say this: I am tired of people not supporting our military. They are using their freedom of speech to knock the very ones giving them that freedom! Don’t cheer for them as you send them off, then when the political climate changes, demonize them on their way back! This has nothing to do with politics…I’m speaking as a pastor with families from my church who do not have their spouses/daddies/mommies/sons/daughters here, safe from harms way. I am so very proud of those families who are sacrificing for this country just as much to be without those they love. You have my heart. You have my prayers.
These are our real heroes. God Bless You.

I agree with you 100%. I had a brother who served during Viet Nam and my father served "in" The battle of Okinawa in the Navy. I have the utmost respect for our soldiers who serve us in the military. They do need our support. You're right, people need to get that through their heads and support these people.
Thanks for your words.
Thanks Joe. They lay it on the line for us bro!
