Michelle and I have the privilege to be a part of a “life group” that meets every other Friday night. Our group meets in conjunction with UpStreet, our ministry for K-5 children. That kind of settles any childcare issues that most of us have. Lee and Jean White lead our group and do a fantastic job of bringing us together in fellowship and pointing us upward as we learn biblical principles that help us grow our relationship with Jesus Christ. We are currently in a series by Andy Stanley called “taking it to the limit”. The series is all about making room for margin in our lives. We have talked about margin in our finances, relationships, work, and life routine. Talk about a timely series to be in with the holidays upon us.
There are lots of things I love about our group. I love the way we laugh together…it can get loud at times. I love the studies that Lee has chosen to date…he is a great spiritual shepherd. I love that we always have good food at group! I love the questions people ask as we unpack life together. I love it that we have had new people coming regularly…it keeps things fresh and exciting. I love our prayer time as people share the burdens of life…many times there will be tears as we do our best to carry the burdens of life together. Finally, I love the way I feel when I am on my way home. I am reminded that I am not alone on this journey called life. I have Michelle, and I have my group. They do their best to treat me as “normal” and not their pastor.
