Accessible

I was noticing today while reading the story of Jesus and Nicodemus in John chapter three that Nicodemus sought Jesus out after dark…in private. Nicodemus was well known and respected as Jesus himself indicates. The thing that struck me about this story was not the theology behind salvation but the fact that Jesus was comfortable sharing with someone in the “dark”. He respected Nicodemus’s privacy and search for the truth.

Some people still need to talk about Jesus in private…maybe sitting on your front porch with you or at your dinner table…maybe over a cup of coffee at Starbucks or even the break room at the office. Not everyone will come out to the Sunday morning service – and those that do might need to be “anonymous” while they check Jesus out. Questions are a good thing. They indicate that someone is thinking about their spiritual life. Other peoples’ questions have a way of sharpening me in my faith and keeping me in touch with those that are still outside God’s family.
