Dad Update

I thought I would give you an update on my Dad’s health situation today. He had a spinal tap procedure on Friday to check for any cancer cells in his spine. Obviously that would not be good news but the doctors are doing this procedure more as a cautionary test…they don’t expect to find cancer there. As for his lungs there was some positive news…the results of his biopsy lead them to think that the cancer in his lungs might not have spread as much as first thought. Dad is meeting with a surgeon this Thursday to see about surgery to remove the “mass” and lymph nodes in the lung. It is a serious surgery where they take out a rib (yes, Dad thinks he is cool like Adam now) to get to the lung. He would be in the hospital for about 10 days. We will see what happens next…I will keep you updated. Michelle and the kids are in Missouri for the week trying to help out anyway they can. Yesterday was Bailey’s birthday (12) and I hated being away from him but I am glad he gets to see his Grandparents. Michelle’s mom is also in the same town so it will be a good time for her and the kids.

Thanks for all your prayers and words of encouragement. I was particularly touched Sunday by the kindness of one of our families that lost their daughter/wife/mom to lung cancer. I was humbled and moved by their compassion for me at what must have been a very difficult topic to discuss. Church was awesome, but their concern and love for me and our family was the highlight of my day.

We are so glad that you heard encouraging news. I have been praying for your family everyday. Tell Bailey that we said Happy Birthday. I have enjoyed getting to know all of your kids since we have been helping out in the youth department. They are great kids!
