Don't Run

I asked Michelle this morning what she wanted to do spontaneous and she said that she wanted to kill our dog (not what I was expecting). Apparently he has been getting out of our fenced in area and running away while I was gone. The kids end up leaving a barn door open and he is on his way. Then you have to get in the car and go after him. He thinks “come” means “run the other way”. His name is Bo…his days are numbered. He really is a sweet (code for stupid) dog. What makes you crazy is you get so close to catching him and he runs some more. If someone would like to rescue a yellow lab who really is nice (beast from HELL) let us know…So there really is a spiritual application here…We love this piece of crap dog…he just won’t come when we call and it makes me (apparently Michelle too) crazy mad. So I guess if God had a blog he might be writing about this pastor in PA who is really nice (code for prideful and stupid) who gets really close but then runs the other way…I really am working on it God…I’m learning that "come" doesn’t mean "run"…Thanks for being patient…

One other thing...I talked Michelle down...Bo lives to see another day (escape) and in stead we are going to lunch as our act of spontaneity...

That is one of the funniest blogs I have ever read. I read it and laughed hilariously then I had to have my wife read it and we laughed hilariously. Great spiritual application at the end. Great message yesterday. You continue to impress and amaze me.

I'll be praying for you and Michelle...and Bo. Poor dog...reminds me of the dog I grew up with. Not too bright...but really sweet! --Heather T

John,

I think Bo needs a friend. Una and I would gladly lend you our 10 month old chocolate lab, Mason, a.k.a. Mason the Menace, for a few days(or months) to help perfect Bo's mischievous behavior. They say two years is the magical point when labs begin to calm down. Hope we all can make it!

Very funny. We even laughed harder on Sunday when your precious children shared some VERY funny animal stores as they relate to the Cremeans family (everything from the gunea pig, fish, dogs, etc.) We were literally in tears!

Thanks Ryan, Paul, and Jeff for chiming in. Jeff, don't believe everything you hear from my kids...it is usually worse! Heather it is always great to hear from you...I hate it that you won't be at Northway when I'm there in February. I hope all is well.

Hi john, I haven't been following your blog for a while and I probably have missed out on some really nice stuff so I'll be around......I want to say that we at "Northway Church" Have the Cremeans family on the top of our prayer list. God is in control of this entire situation. The 23rd Psalms has never been so real to us Christians as in times like these. ....Sounds like you need the "Invisiable fence" for fido. When he get to close to the line he get's warned. When he crosses the line he get's Zapped. A little pay back for what he has been putting you through. He will be happier and so will all of you.(Christian application for a message in there somewhere). Gods blessings on you and your family, LAV....

John, I just read your blog and this one had me in stitches. One of my favorite things about you is that you are so real. No pretense here. You continue to amaze me at the way you can take something as silly and simple as wanting to kill the dog and turn it into a valuable spiritual lesson. you are awesome, dude. Keep it up. JDF

I laughed out loud at this blog, too! Comic relief! YAY!! But if you were paying attention to the Secret Life of Animals blog, perhaps you would have known that he has been blogging about his "sweet" owners!

Okay - so I asked my family Sunday after church - "What are some things we can do spontaneously?" My oldest son and husband looked at me like a deer in the headlights and said- while bursting out laughing so hard my husbands eyes were tearing up - "If we talk about it, then it won't be spontaneous!" I was so ticked! I just wanted to throw some things out there at them! Guess there won't be any spontaneity in our home this week - or EVER! (I have a very exciting family!)
