Some thoughts as I get ready to hit it tomorrow…This was my first go-round at blogging this year. I started back in June and ended up with 124 posts for the year. I was reluctant to get into it but I have to say I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. It can be cathartic for me to write when I’m mad, burdened, and even depressed. Unfortunately I had lots of those kind of emotions in 2007 (I saw a church online today that is beginning a teaching series on depression called "Life Sucks"). I will remember 2007 as one of the toughest years for me professionally but one of the defining years for Fellowship Church. When I write I feel like I’m standing up front teaching or in the lobby visiting with friends at church. It gives me a chance to “promote” what is coming up as well as keeping the vision out in front of people. I want to thank those of you who read and chime in from time to time. Here are some interesting blog stats for this year….There were a total 9,791 visitors since June with a total of 17,771 pages viewed. It’s a start.
I am a firm believer in strategic breaks. Our staff shuts it down between Christmas and New Years. It has been a good break for me…it went really, really fast, which is a good indicator of the quality of the break. I spent a lot of time taking my kids to different stores to use their gift cards. Michelle and I went to our neighbor’s birthday party (we didn’t know anyone) and Sunday Emmy and I went to Elk Creek Church for a visit (great job Mike!). I got to take my girls to see the movie “I Am Legend” as well…crazy movie! Last night we were treated to a night of “Stomp” at the Merriam Theater in Philly by some of our best friends. You have to go see “Stomp” if you get the chance. I also did lots of lying around and reading. One last thing I never thought would happen…I actually rooted for the Giants against the Patriots and then the next day routed for the Redskins against the Cowboys…who would have believed it.
So here we go…I’m excited about 2008 and I’m chomping to get back at it tomorrow with my team. I hope to see some of you tomorrow night at our communion service (7:00 at the church campus).
