I Love Surprises

I received my best surprise of the year when my niece Kristi came in today for a visit. Kristi is 23 and lives in Lynchburg Virginia. I love it when my nieces come to see me. They are amazing and my family adores them. Kristi is one of the sweetest and funniest girls I know. She reminds me of our kid’s pastor Kristi McInnes in her love for children and she makes our family laugh like crazy. It’s an awesome privilege to be an Uncle. To see my sister Kristin’s girls grow up to love Jesus the way they do has been one of the highlights of my life. In case you can’t tell…I’m very proud of them.

Today was a great Sunday. Jeff broke out some “golden oldies” during worship. Attendance seemed off some – lots of people are battling the flu right now. We also had around 25 of our middle school young people and their leaders at a ski retreat. It was good to kick off our new series on the “Power of Words”. Words come with responsibility and they are indicators of the condition of our heart. Remember that God holds us accountable for everything we say. If you have a problem with the things you say, God says it is a heart issue. We are never going to be perfect in the timing and choice of our words, but Christ followers should lead the way when it comes to encouraging others and speaking into their lives.

I want to thank Ryan and Jess along with our student leaders for investing this weekend in our Middle School kids. I hope you guys had fun and don’t come home with too many bruises!

I’m getting pumped up for our Russia trip this summer. I’ll try to blog about that some tomorrow.
