Manna

I have been in a trustee meeting for Manna today – Manna is a faith based organization that started a little over five years ago that helps connect churches, organizations, and individuals with starving kids all over the world. There is nothing like being in a room filled with pastors, businessmen, and missionaries that are passionate about hungry and hurting children. Proverbs 22:9 says, “Blessed are those who are generous because they feed the poor.” God cares about the poor. For too many years, churches shied away from this kind of endeavor as some kind of “social gospel.” What a crock! Jesus was all about meeting peoples physical and emotional needs as a way to reach their heart. I don’t believe we should feed hungry kids as a means to an end, but that we should feed kids simply because they are hungry. St Francis said to tell everyone about Jesus and if necessary use words. That is one of my favorite all-time quotes!

I find myself dialing out of the meeting as I try to think of more ways I can raise funds to feed kids. It’s out there…the resources are there…we just need to get the word out. Where there is vision God will bring the provision.

My good friend Tim Chambers from Shore Fellowship, is here with me.  We have this text thing going on while people are talking.  This is one of the reasons we became pastors... we struggle listening for long periods of time...

I pick up Michelle and in a couple of hours…I have been missing her with all our travel. We just love coming to C3 together! It is like youth-camp for pastors…

Fellowship Church (in Texas) has - from what I have read - the largest singles ministry in the US. I would bet there is a lot Brian and I could learn from them and a conference like this...if we fly out today will we miss much?? haha Have a great time with Michelle...see you both soon!
