Miracles

Here is the note I received from Brian...

Hey John,

What a great phone call to receive. It always blows me away when God answers prayers - I guess it shows how I don’t always trust that He will answer our prayers. With Chuck’s cancer, the probability of it being cancer after all the tests was in the neighborhood of 99%. There was no expert from the East Coast to the Midwest that would have doubted the diagnosis or prognosis based on all the tests done. He had stage II T1-N1-M0 non-small cell lung cancer. With really good treatment his general prognosis was a 40-70% chance of survival at 5 years.

I just thought I would say one quick thing. After 17 years in the medical field, I have participated in working with some of the most incredible technological advances the world has ever seen. From Computers to Robots, our world of medicine has been changed. We do procedures and cure things today that we could only dream of curing just 5 years ago. However, there are still these cases that show up in our department every so often. They present with very little hope and a whole lot of worry. We work up the best, most technologically advanced treatment and prepare to battle the disease. But something happens - something unexpected. The disease is cured when it should not be, or it is not what it was suppose to be. There is no explanation - there is no technology that could solve the problem - and we do not have the knowledge to understand how things could result in such a good outcome. In medicine we stay away from the MIRACLE word. We just say it’s an unexplained thing. This, despite having no answers other than every single advanced test and procedure telling us exactly what we were dealing with. So with that, I have learned to see that God does perform MIRACLES today. We are scared to see them and admit them, but they are there. Many times they are small miracles, and every once in awhile he shows his true power and heals the sick, makes the blind see, and the deaf hear. His word tells us his GRACE is enough - we just have to believe.

May God Guide Your Steps, Brian

Brian, John has talked about how much you have been a blessing to him through all of this. I know God answers prayers and just usually think he won't answer mine. I am working on catching the stinking thinking. Thanks Brian and John for sharing these words. It just shows how much of an amazing miracle this really was.

Enjoy your Sunday!

who IS this Brian guy???He is amazing - I think I need to meet him! All kidding aside - God's wonders never cease to amaze us...even when we think we believe...sometimes He knows we don't really and decides to come down here and show off for us a little. Thanks God for showing your amazing power on Chuck!

Brian, what an awesome encouraging note to John! Thanks for being there for him in this special time of need. You are such an asset at Fellowship!
John, It`s not fair when God takes out parents, or our kids home to be with Him but it happens. It`s never easy and 12 years after my dad passed it still brings tears to my eyes when I think of what he meant to me. I pray you get many more years with him and your mom. Take full advantage of that! Visit as often as you can and call at least once a week!
Fortunately when my dad passed I didn`t have to say "Wow, I wished I had told him I loved him before he passed away"!
