Too Much To Handle

Have you ever felt like you were at the end of your rope? This isn’t just overwhelmed or stressed out kind of stuff, but seriously wondering how you can possibly continue without some kind of significant change. Paul gives some interesting dialogue in 2 Corinthians 4:8-10 when he says,

“We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed. Through suffering, our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies.”

I like what the Life Application Bible notes say here…Paul reminds us that though we may think we are at the end of our rope, we are never at the end of our hope.” Here’s to hope!

So does God give us more than we can handle? I believe I know the answer and we are going to talk about it on Sunday. I hope to see you there.

Speaking of too much to handle...why did your brother say on his blog that the Eagles stink (Oct 21)? You might want to be careful of the links you supply for us to check out.

Have a great day!

These past two weeks have been quite a whirlwind and at times overwhelming with work, studying and other things going on. And these verses definitely define life at the apparent "end of the rope"! The one thing that I have continually tried to work on is "being still". I get way to ahead of myself and the enemy sneaks in thoughts of doubt and business with the mentality that these burdens will never pass. I definitely recommend having someone in your life to help you slow down and put things in perspective. I had lunch with Ryan last Thursday and he helped me "pull back the reigns" a little and just "be still". Thanks Ryan. This week I have applied two things I heard from the messages this past Sunday and it has kept me encouraged. John spoke on the myth "if God wants me happy and I'm not...then God failed." This week my joy shined greater than the surface happiness that has ups and downs. It feels a lot better relying on the joy! (Very good message John, best for me so far!) On Sunday night, Ryan mentioned "Live for God, one day at a time." Every once in a while, we need to take baby steps again in order to walk in stride with God when we lose perspective. And one day at a time is okay.....

Welcome back Jeff. This week's talk sounds like what you have been going through. Those are good words you wrote about being still. I hope you have a great week!
