I loved our kick-off today to our new series “Lost”. I have the privilege of collaborating on this series with my Bro! Buddy is such a gifted communicator and maybe even a better writer. He writes stuff and I am so blown away at the gift God has given him of articulating life. We have been kicking this topic back and forth since Thanksgiving. You should check out his message – you can watch it at his church web site and you can compare. God always uses our personal make-up for a unique spin.
I had a great time teaching today. You guys are and incredible audience. The whole "contentment" verses "discontent" resonates with me in a big way. The illustration of how God has blessed us with our own house really brought the emotion for me today. I want to really encourage you to focus in to where your heart is in this season where advertisers will be bombarding you. Remember, you are the only "you "that exists. You are God’s masterpiece…think about it! Don’t fall into the trap of comparing yourself to someone else. Paul gives us the answer…more Jesus in our life. It sounds simple but it is profound. It is an issue of the heart. More of Jesus in our life is a decision and a process…a life-long pursuit.
I am up early tomorrow as I take Michelle to the airport for a much deserved break as she spends some “girl-time “with a friend in a much warmer climate. Time for me to step up this week as I wear several hats around our home, but I am looking forward to the challenge. Michelle sets the bar very high.
Pray for me as I have another funeral later today at 11:00. The funeral is for a 45 year old man who leaves a wife and two young children. His death was sudden and unexpected. Tough stuff. Pray for this wife and her two children. This is going to be a difficult Christmas for them. Did you ever notice that this kind of stuff seems to come in waves? Pray that God will give me words of comfort and grace that will help this grieving family.
I want you to know that I am praying that God gives you a great week. Be praying about this series and our Christmas weekend services. Who are you inviting to hear the good news about finding the way home?
God, please use Fellowship in a big way. May you trust us even more with the incredible message of your beautiful son Jesus…

This was definitely an awesome kickoff to this series. Sure, even as believers, I know we struggle through those wilderness journeys where don't seem to find our way. But the absolute best part of your message on Sunday was the part about God putting us in our very own unique situations for a reason. I have been realizing this in my own life over the past few months and I got reassurance and encouragement on Sunday! I am slowly learning to be content to where God has me and being ready to be used.
I'm glad God has put you with us Jeff! God is using you in a big way already and I see you as an emerging leader. Keep following God and dreaming big. Tell your Dad I am praying for him.
