For those of you who have never lived in America’s heartland you would have thought you were in a WWII bombing raid tonight. I walked out of one of my favorite Springfield eating establishments to the sound of sirens wailing. Not police or ambulance sirens mind you but “Tornado Warning” sirens…we are talking really loud here. Trust me…they get your attention. How cool is that! Storm tracking Baby! Kevin and I headed towards my parents house with the pedal to the metal. That was about 5 hours ago and you can still hear the thunder outside.
Thanks for all you who took the time to comment and give words of encouragement. My parents got to read all of them tonight and I know it meant the world to them. My dad goes for his test at noon tomorrow so please continue to pray. Their spirits are good. Mom and I got out old pictures and looked at them tonight. I had way more hair as a baby than I do now. I also discovered that my Dad was quite the GQ guy in his younger days…I know where Buddy and I get our “metro” tendencies…

John,
I have been going back and forth on if I should post this since Monday. I decided I should swallow my pride and post it because if nothing else hopefully it makes you smile. I will make it as short as I can.
First let me say, we are still praying for you and your family.
Now, quick background then on to the funny part! I am from Jacksonville (GOOO JAGS) Florida and was here on a trip with Rob the summer before I moved up here. He was out shopping or something with his brother and I was in the hotel room waiting to go to dinner when he got back. Anyway..there was a storm coming in and the sky was getting dark, winds were really picking up etc. well there I am in the room all alone when I hear this very loud siren. I tried to call Rob and there was no answer. I ran outside and saw the dark dark clouds, the winds were kicking, rain was starting so I ran back inside. How could he leave me here alone during a TORNADO??!!! I was just about ready to take the mattress off the bed and jump in the tub when he came back. I told him what was going on and he started LAUGHING. In between laughs he explained to me those arent tornado sirens they are to "call" the fire companies. To which I snapped, they dont have phones or 911 up here? Please understand at this point my body had been going through sweet tea withdrawals so I knew they had phones but it seemed like the right thing to say at the time. Also understand that the only time in Jacksonville I would hear a siren like that would be for a tornado or for the required testing they do.
Now that I look back on it I think that was God's way of telling me things in my life are going to be different than what I know. Which has been a wonderful thing.
I hope you at least got a smile at my expense!!!
Hang in there and know all of our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Leslie
