So check this out…Michelle brought home an egg incubator from Missouri on her recent trip. She has had seventeen duck eggs “cooking” in there for two weeks now. Tonight she made this contraption where she took a box and cut a small hole in the top (the egg rests on this hole). You then put a flash light under the box and place the egg on top of the hole. The room is dark so you can see if anything is happening inside the egg. I can’t tell you just how freaky it was to see something moving inside of the egg! It was disgusting and incredible at the same time. You could see veins and movement inside...again...very freaky! I swear one of them smiled at me…the kids think I am insane. So we have eight of the seventeen with something growing…nine duds in the lot. In two more weeks we should have some baby ducks (something tells me that is not the correct term). Michelle cracks me up. She is so into the “farm scene” and makes living here so much fun for all of us. I think we have some goats in our future. She has some goat lady “holding” three “dairy goats” (again…not the scientific name) for us. No milking the goats jokes needed here…just doesn’t seem very manly if you know what I mean. Anyway…Michelle keeps trying to sell me that these are really special goats…hence the $250.00 price tag per stinkin’ goat.
So I will keep you posted on our duck eggs and make some kind of duck birth announcement if they make it. I thought about starting this post with “we’re pregnant” or “we are having babies” but I didn’t want to freak out our Elders. No baby showers needed, but if you are interested in some ducks…
I'm headed to Missouri later today. I have a 6:00 AM flight...ouch! Buddy is going too so it will be cool to be together as a family. Thanks again for all your prayers and support. I'll see you Sunday as we continue our series on the "Power of Words."

Before we all know it, you will probably be the one most attached to the "ducks" (did you mean chicks?) and have given them special names. You already experienced the ultrasound bonding moment only with a flashlight. You do sound a bit like a proud poppa.
Glad to hear you were able to book a flight to be there for your Mom and Dad. Have a safe trip and my prayers will continue for you, your parents, and your family.

P.S. Are you going to let them know that they are going to be grandparents again only to chicks and goats?
No...they are ducks! I might be an ignorant "want-to-be farmer" but I do know the difference between ducks and chickens Betty. Thanks for making me laugh! We don't have a rooster...I hate them! So we don't have to worry about chicks. Did you know that you can have baby chicks mailed...yes mailed to your house? We might be getting some of them in the spring...
Actually since I used to work for the post office, I saw plenty of things mailed. Chicks, turtles and beehives, bees included. That was a package I didn't want to deliver. Okay, instead of chicks, since they are ducks do you mean...ducklings? Obviously, I am not a farm girl myself. Here's a link for you to learn how to take care of your new baby ducks:

I am trying to convince Rob that we are meant to have a duck, it could be my Valentines Day gift!!! (I am thinking hes not going to go for it)
Wonderful news about the flight so you can be with your parents on Friday. We will keep your family and your parents in our prayers, especially your dad. May the surgery go well and his recovery be as quick and easy as possible. Please keep us updated!!

Enjoy the new wildlife in your life, John! When you mentioned a rooster in one of your comment responses, it reminded me of something. My husband's uncle used to have a rooster on their horse farm. One day Muffaletta (the rooster)found his way into the bedroom while he was napping and decided that was the time to cock-a-doodle-do! Needless to say, that rooster is in heaven now. :)
