Daddy Time

I’m enjoying some serious Daddy time here of late. Emily made her 7th grade team at Avon Grove and is starting at sweeper on defense. It’s pretty cool watching your kids play. You get to see parts of their character and personality come out in competition that you might not see otherwise. Emmy is very competitive. I have no idea where that comes from. She is doing great so far, especially considering she has very little soccer experience. Bailey, Grace, and Drew are also playing youth club soccer on Sunday’s after church. It gets hectic but I sure love watching them compete. It is amazing how different and unique they are.

Emmy is always looking over at me on the sidelines…she told me recently that she plays better when I’m watching. What she is saying is that knowing I’m there makes her step it up a notch…she wants to please me and make me proud. That’s kind of how it is for me as a Christ Follower. When I realize that God my Father is watching me it helps me step it up a notch. I want to please Him and make Him proud. Sure I “know” He ALWAYS sees me, but I’m very often out of touch with that reality. I’m busy. I’m focused on MY agenda. What was it that Brother Lawrence called it,”practicing God’s presence in our lives.”

So let me remind you today that Dad is watching. He is interested in you. He can’t wait for your game to start because you are so important to Him. He is cheering you on from the sidelines!

I enjoy hearing that you are so involved in your kids lives! You will reap the rewards of that. Too many people miss the boat when it comes to their kids and you are always there for them. That is so encouraging to me as a dad.
I hope the kids enjoy soccer and that you get to all their games!

Can't wait till my boys are older and involved in something like that and I can support them as well. Thanks for modeling family to all of us.
